We just read in the Naples News this morning some great news. According to the paper “For the past 15 years, as Collier County underwent one of the most volatile times in its history — a population boom, a real estate market bust, unstable employment rates — one trend has remained the same. Crime fell.” Wow, great news here. Furthermore the paper goes on to say “Collier County was the state’s only county to see a drop every year. In all, the Part I crime rate fell by 66 percent between 1996 and 2010.”
Hats off to our preventive groups and programs like DARE, Boys and Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, Churches and Drug Free Collier – as well as our Law and Order folks who keep the peace despite some significant budget cuts.
Despite our growth and influx of tourists each year, Naples remains a relatively peaceful little haven in southern Florida. Nice.
