William Gibson once said “The future is already here. It is just unevenly distributed.” Nothing could be more true of real estate in the United States. Many areas have pulled out of the real estate slump, some areas have a ways to go.
The good news is we have more markets and more bright spots. We could use some more volume in Naples real estate but our prices and inventories are looking favorable. 2011 was better than 2010 and 2012 is feeling ok so far.
On a national scale there are some positive predictions. For example, CNBC reported five days ago ”The five-year slide in U.S. home prices will end this year, followed by the start of a weak recovery in 2013 … a poll of 23 economists and analysts found a consensus for no change in the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index in 2012, compared with a median 0.3 percent decline that was forecast in the last poll in November.”
Nice predictions but if they are true but look for that uneven future. Some parts of the country are bouncing back, others not so much and the average may be a big zero. What to do? Know a good Realtor – even within a rebounding area like Naples, Florida there are going to be mixed results by area.
There is good news all around. Things are looking brighter than last year especially if these trends and futuristic predictions hold up.
