Yesterday evening Nan and I headed to the opening of the new Naples Botanical Garden Asian Garden with some good friends of ours. It is remarkable we have a garden comparable to the Fairchild Gardens right here in our own Naples backyard. Comprised of many different gardens designed around a tropical theme, the Naples Botanical Garden provides an improvement over the traditional arboretum style design of gardens in the past. One of many gardens in the design, the new Asian Garden is a real treat with Indonesian Temples hand-built by Bali workers who traveled all the way to Naples (some interesting visa/work permit stories here! Try bringing Bali workers into the US with disassembled temples and structures and explain that to the customs guys). And do not miss the three-story high bamboo or the rice paddies feeding a beautiful pond or some amazing tropical plants and trees not typically seen in this country. Need to chill out? Just bring a book over and have a seat in a wonderful setting. Even for those who are not into this sort of thing (and believe me I have brought over plenty of friends with zero interest in anything botanical) a walk in these gardens will bring something good to all who venture forth. If you like planned activities to go along with your visit, today is Hats In The Garden luncheon where many Naples ladies will gather to celebrate this wonderful place. Many more upcoming events this season include outdoor jazz concerts on the green (think, wine, cheese and jazz in a world-class tropical garden) yoga class on monday mornings. Call the Naples Botanical Garden directly at 239.643.7275 or just come on over and be sure to say to hello to our good friend Brian Holley Director of the Garden. The Naples Botanical Garden is another wonderful addition to Naples Real Estate and our Naples lifestyle. Today’s high is 80 degrees and you can walk the garden in shorts – even in mid-November!
