Last night we were on the beach watching a photo shoot at sundown. No clouds, beautiful beach and seventy degrees in the dead of winter. It is a wonder everyone does not live here. Although we were a focal point of the real estate down turn and you never know what the future brings we seem to be crawling out of the hole. Over the last few months we reported improving conditions in Naples real estate now we have some added state wide data.
Florida Realtors reported yesterday “Florida’s existing home and existing condo sales continued its positive upswing in November, according to the latest housing data released by Florida Realtors®. Existing home sales increased 11 percent last month with a total of 12,993 homes sold statewide compared to 11,664 homes sold in November 2010, according to Florida Realtors.”
I wish I had a better idea as to why these numbers are improving. You can point to lower interest rates or “cycles” or our natural demographics – people keep moving to Florida and our population increases. When you don’t know the cause for something it is best to keep an eye on it – like supply and demand data which we publish monthly and sometimes more frequently.
Some folks just like to live here period. They bought homes in tough markets because they like it here. Great weather, nice people, fine restaurants, plenty of outdoor activity, personal fitness and club sports, the arts, a one hundred year plus history of resort living and just hanging out. Now add in an improving real estate market and we have the makings for an interesting 2012 in Florida real estate.
