When we write about the Naples, Florida lifestyle we have to include the generosity of the community. Gifts of time and talent and wealth to make the world and our county a better place. From the largest charitable auction in the United States, to the tutor who provides help to a student, to the laborer who raises walls at the largest Habitat for Humanity affiliate in America – Naples has a lot generous people and a lot of needs.
This weekend the folks at Windstar on Naples Bay are hosting their fourth annual “Windstar Gives Back” event to raise funds for the Naples Boys and Girls Club. Three days including wellness and tennis and a pro-am golf event with some of the best local professionals around. Our estimates are these efforts could come close to raising $100,000 for the kids.
Why single out the Boys and Girls Club this morning? There are so many fine non-profits in Naples Boys and Girls Club is just one. But, wow, what a lot benefit they provide. Here are a few facts from their website:

Provided a safe and positive place for young people to go every day after school, special event weekends and during the long days of summer when school is not in session…
Kept 1,500 young people engaged in positive and productive activities while keeping them off the streets, out of gangs, off drugs and in school …
Provided homework assistance and tutoring to our club members resulting in dramatic increases in their academic achievement and school participation …
Provided leadership opportunities for our teens including teen clubs, regional and national Boys & Girls Clubs of America conferences and visits with state and local universities …
Provided 69,452 hot and nutritious meals to our young people during the summer …
and provided over 800,000 hours of service to our youth and our families!
