Accurate tourism data is tough to find so this recent work by Jack Wert is interesting to all of us in Naples real estate. The theory goes tourism brings folks here, they fall in love with Naples and then rent, buy and bring their friends. This pattern has been repeated in this town for literally over one hundred years – so the recent news on the uptick is good for all of us – including local merchants and our local economy which is geared to run on sales tax and tourism dollars.
The Naples News reported on May 11, at an industry briefing by Jack Wert. He stated “Visitation set a record in the county with nearly 1.5 million visitors last year, up 7.7 percent over 2010.”
Tourism seemed to go right along with increased real estate sales volumes and price increases.
