Well life is not all about real estate. Let’s talk about Naples living and lifestyle. The weather this week is dry and in the low 70‘s as our winter season starts to take shape. Year round outdoor living, no hard freeze and oh boy the outdoor world is your oyster. Golf, tennis, running, a walk though the Naples Botanical Garden, hanging out at the beach. Soak up the sun and recharge.
Year round tropical climates afford some interesting gardening choices. Combine this with a healthy lifestyle and you can really feel good about yourself and your health. November is the traditional time to plant some fall herbs. Imagine walking out your door to clip off some of these tasty treats to add to your cooking. Grow them organically very easily here with some soil amending and care.
This week I am putting in cilantro, dill, fennel, cumin (tough to grow!) and garlic. My rosemary continues to grow well in a combined sun and shade spot and developed into quite a large bush. Combine your herb growing with some tropical fruit trees and bushes and you have a wonderful addition to your table.
Why cilantro-dill-fennel-cumin-garlic and rosemary? They do well in dryer cooler times. November is the beginning of the dry season with little rain through April and cooler temperatures. Sure a frost can set you back but this is manageable (plant the herbs in pots and bring them in for the occasional frost warning). As the spring approaches think about rainy season herbs for your garden – more on this later!
